SSU provides and extensive array of services to students on campus as well as online. Some services by their nature are location-bound, while others can be delivered and accessed by students wherever they study.
GAFutures
GAFutures is a mentor system. A mentor system is an online resource to help students and their families select a college, apply for admission, and plan to finance higher education.
Involvement & Leadership
The Leadership Development Center is dedicated to student involvement and engagement during their time as a SSU student and beyond. For students learning online, connecting with these departments is just a click, text, email, or phone call away.
Health & Wellness
Student Health Services is the foundation for success in the SSU community. Campus Life and many other departments strive to promote wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, and a culture of safety.
Virtual Connections
Virtual connections at SSU connect people and learning groups with popular multimedia resources and social media tools. These virtual ways to connect and share allow exchange of information on a variety of media platforms.
University Library
The SSU library is part of a consortium that can borrow books from other university libraries. A great deal of information can be accessed remotely through the library's research databases, e-journals, and e-reserves.
Academic Advising and Mentoring
Need to register for classes? Want to plan your academic future? Have a question but not sure who to ask? The Center for Academic Success Academic Advising and Mentoring is here to help. All students with under 60 earned credit hours are matched with a CAS advisor who will help you select and plan a major, register for classes, practice successful academic habits, and find the campus resources to ensure you make the most of your SSU experience. Advisors are located in Whiting Hall; they are also available by phone and Skype for off-campus students, including evening hours Monday through Thursday.
CAS Tutorial Center
The Center for Academic Success provides free tutoring in a variety of subjects (both in the core curriculum and in selected upper-level classes) in the Tutorial Center, located in Whiting Hall, Room 128. Students can make an appointment in advance or see a tutor on a walk-in basis or by Skype (based on availability) with evening hours Monday through Thursday. Disability Resource Center (DRC)
The mission of DRC is to help provide individuals with disabilities an accessible university environment by supporting access to all technological, architectural, and educational resources available at SSU through the incorporation of assistive technologies, the provision of technical support, and the development of university-wide strategies for universal access. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), also known as the "Buckley Amendment," is a federal law that gives protection to student educational records and provides students with certain rights.
