The ADDIE Model
The ADDIE Model is the most common model used for creating instructional materials. The ADDIE Process categorizes the instructional design process into five phases:
Analyze
- Identify the learning problem
- Analyze learner characteristics and the nature of the task
- Determine the purpose of the task
- Identify all instructional goals and objectives
- Consider the learning environment, delivery options and the timeline for the project
- Formative evaluation
Design
- Specify learning objectives
- Design storyboards and prototypes
- Determine the graphic design, user-interface and content
- Formative evaluation
Develop
- Produce content and learning materials based on the Design phase
- Formative evaluation
Implement
- Deliver or distribute the instructional materials
- Formative evaluation
Evaluate
- Determine the level of success by evaluating the needs for each individual objective
- Summative Evaluation
