Research at Savannah State University
SSU faculty and staff have a strong record in research and grant funding. Grants compose approximately 10 percent of the SSU annual budget and directly support the university's mission to achieve student success (retention, graduation, and entry into the professional workforce) by funding:
- Faculty/student research
- Scholarships/fellowships/internships (approximately 150 per year, totaling $1.5 M per year)
- New curriculums/program development/enhancements, which focus on workforce readiness skills and real-world applied problem solving, including cybersecurity, forensic science, data analytics, global logistics, and applied math
- New equipment grants to build research capacity
- K-12 programs to strengthen pipelines to higher education and careers
- Community service initiatives
Each year, faculty/staff/student grant-funded achievements are profiled in the SSU Journal of Research, Arising and at the university's Annual Research Conferences.
