Dr. Hongo is serving as Title III funded VITAL project activity Co-Director effective August 01, 2024. Dr. Hongo has more than 20 years of extensive research, and student mentoring experience in Biology particularly in Cellular and transplantation immunology. His current research involves understanding the mechanisms of tolerance induction by immunoregulatory cells to organ and bone marrow transplants using murine models to eliminate the lifelong need for immunosuppression drugs and their side effects especially after organ transplantation. He published his research in high peer reviewed research journals (Blood, JID, Front Immunol, AJT) and is actively involved in student mentoring, curriculum development and research programs funded by NSF.

Shaneese graduated from Savannah State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Marine Sciences. She is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of community events, media creation, faculty workshops, and student interaction with VITAL technology.

Mr. Palacios is a long-time artist, tech enthusiast, and is well versed in all types of multimedia creation.  He received a BA in traditional fine arts with a focus on painting. He currently focuses his efforts on VR and MR. His tasks include software/hardware troubleshooting, maintenance, and technology assistance for the VITAL team and iApply (NSF funded project)
